The superior throughput and stability of the Milestone ETHOS X extraction system has been underlined by the publication of a range of new application notes for the instrument.
The new applications focus predominantly on the ETHOS X’s abilities in environmental testing situations.
This includes the extraction of Polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), dioxins and Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons (TPH) from samples such as soil and sediment. The applications are fully compliant with EPA method 3546.
With the addition of a fastEX24 rotor, extraction can take place within 40 minutes on up to 24 samples simultaneously.
In addition, the addition of new, larger, low-cost disposable glass vials gives the system even greater flexibility. The 100ml vials are suitable for sample sizes up to 30g in weight, while the disposable nature means there is no memory effect and no cleaning required.
The ETHOS X microwave method is also safer because it limits human exposure to the solvent.
